Today, I donated €10.00 ($10.98 USD) to Beloved friends,family,and kind-hearted supporte. This is the second campaign where I paid using a currency that I don’t normally use. The first one was Help a Gazan Girl get urgent surgery.
The story behind this campaign organized by Osama Alnajjar is the following:
Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
I am reaching out to you with great urgency and desperation. My name is Osama Al-Najjar. I am from Gaza City, Palestine, and I am currently in Egypt. I was in Egypt to undergo surgery when the war broke out, and I am now stuck here, without my family, worried and alone.
I am asking for your help to raise the funds for the emergency evacuation of my family, which consists of seven members: my father, my mother, my 26-year-old twin brother Yasser, my 25- year-old sister Hala, and her son, Reem, who is only 1.5 years old, my 22-year-old brother Muhammad and my little sister Ban, age 15.
We were originally from the Al-Shati refugee camp in Northern Gaza, but my family has been displaced several times during the war. They are currently in a small apartment in Rafah with dozens of other relatives.
My mother was an Arabic language teacher in middle school and my father was a primary school teacher. Both of my parents are now unemployed. My brother Yasser, Dr. Human, graduated a few months ago and is trying to help care for the ill in our community. My sister Hala is an English language teacher who lost her home and educational center, and my brother Muhammad is studying engineering at Al-Azhar University in the third year but can no longer continue his studies.
With Israel’s announcement of ground entry into Rafah, my family lacks a safe shelter and has to evacuate the Gaza Strip. Please help us.
With your support and generosity, we aim to raise a target amount of €35,000. The funds will be allocated for the following purposes:
– Permits and transit fees required to leave Gaza at the Egyptian-Gaza border in Rafah ($5,000 per person over the age of 16 and $2500 for those under). In my family, this will cost us $30,000, or approximately 27,731€. This cost does not include other unknown fees associated with the process of leaving Gaza.
– Residence in Egypt in port said and money to resettle once again.
– GoFundMe transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30 per donation).
