On January 29, 2026, Murad from Wear The Peace sent me the following email about Hind Rajab Day:

Hi Sena,

Today is Hind Rajab Day. A day to remember Hind, the 6-year-old girl who was murdered by the IOF, and to honor the tens of thousands of children whose final pleas for help were never heard. A reminder of all the untold stories still buried under the rubble.

As I sat yesterday to work on content to honor Hind, I couldn’t hold back tears listening to her final phone call. Hind’s mother, Wesam, recalled that the final words she exchanged with Hind came after Hind had been shot and her mouth was full of blood. Rana Faqih, the dispatcher from the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PCRS) who was speaking to Hind, asked, “Hanoud, why aren’t you speaking?” Hind replied, “I’m not speaking because my mouth is full of blood.” Rana told her, “Wipe it with your hand and then tell me if you’re still bleeding.”

Hind answered, “I don’t want to wipe it on my shirt so I don’t trouble my mom.”

Wesam reassured her daughter, “It’s okay sweetheart, wipe your mouth, I’ll wash it, my love.” Hind agreed, wiped her mouth, and then her voice went silent. Her mother kept calling her name, but Hind never responded.

Even typing this, I feel broken. I can only imagine how Hind felt, how her family felt, how her mother still feels to this day.

As I was working on her posts, I began to recall some of the scenes that continue to echo in my mind.

The child carrying his little brother, dead and bloodied, inside his backpack.

The father who went to collect his twins’ birth certificates, only to return and find them murdered.

The little girls screaming as they watched their father burn to death after being trapped on the third floor of their bombed building.

The father crying as he searched through rubble for his four children.

Shaban Al-Dalou’s hand reaching out for help as his body was engulfed in flames.

The beheaded one-year-old, Ahmed Al-Najjar, held up to the camera by his father after the occupation bombed tents sheltering displaced families.

The child taking their final breaths on camera as Nooh desperately tried to pull them from beneath the rubble.

The premature babies left to die after doctors were forced to abandon the hospital.

Children crying over their murdered parents.

Parents crying over their murdered children.

I cannot believe what this world allowed to happen. All this while they live-streamed themselves desperate, hungry, heartbroken, and carrying their dead loved ones in their arms.

Gaza is still hurting and we must continue to give them our voice. There are a million Hind Rajabs in Gaza that need us to stand for them. Please, do not stop protesting, speaking to everyone you know, posting, disrupting, and doing everything you can to speak for Gaza and all oppressed people.

They will be free. Every oppressed person will be free. And in turn, we will all be free.

Free Palestine,

Murad
