A Joyful Arrival Amid Unimaginable Hardship
We are overjoyed to share the safe arrival of Muhammad’s baby nephew, Omar, born to Mohammed Khaled and Sahar. Despite months of hardship, displacement, scarcity, and fear, sister Sahar labored and delivered safely, embodying extraordinary strength and courage. She was truly a warrior. Baby Omar arrived healthy, weighing 3.3 kilos (7lbs 3oz) a powerful testament to Sahar’s resilience, determination, and unwavering love for her child.
This moment of life and hope stands in stark contrast to the realities surrounding them. While media narratives suggest that the ceasefire has ended the genocide, this is not the lived reality for families in Gaza. Supply chains remain severely disrupted. Access to food, clean water, medical supplies, and basic necessities is still unstable.
Ongoing rains have caused flooding, and Mohammed and Sahar’s shelter has been damaged after enduring two severe storms, compounding their vulnerability during the most critical postpartum period.
Welcoming a newborn should be a time of safety, warmth, and support. Instead, this family is navigating survival and protecting a fragile infant from cold, damp conditions, illness, and scarcity.
They urgently need continued support for:
• Safe shelter repairs or relocation
• Infant supplies (diapers, warmth, nutrition)
• Postpartum care and nutrition for Sahar
• Food, clean water, and basic necessitiesYour support has already made this safe birth possible. Now, it is needed more than ever to protect baby Omar’s first days of life and to help this young family stabilize in the face of ongoing crisis. Any small gift for baby Omar is a blessing and an investment in Palestine’s future.
